Another fresh and brand new year is upon us once again and as many people have commented to me lately "this is going to be an exciting and abundant year".  It is certainly looking that way if January is anything to go by as not only has this month been extremely busy organizing some new workshops but Perth has also been blessed with the presence, wisdom and knowledge of Baba Dez and his Apprentice Natasha from the International School of Temple Arts in Sedona USA.  The Talks and Workshops were extremely powerful, moving and for some confrontational and opened the awareness for so many people of the divine sacred union within each and every one of us in the aspects of the healthy masculine and the divine healthy feminine. Baba Dez is one of the most vibrant, energetic and profound teachers today in the modern field of Sacred Sexuality and for myself personally the journey has certainly moved and shifted me into greater heights within my teachings and my own spiritual growth.  As quoted in the Whitetigress Manual " If you cannot directly face your sexuality, you will never discover your true spirituality".  Baba Dez certainly rocked Perth and for those who participated in the talks, workshops and sessions, I sincerely thank you for not only supporting this event but for sharing your journey and wisdom, for stepping up, being present and allowing yourself to be an expression of your powerful sexual energy.

I feel so blessed that The Sanctuary of Tantra sponsored Baba Dez and encouraged him to come to Perth.   Those of us who were lucky enough to attend his talks and subsequently participate in his workshops, have come away with an understanding of how the Tantric and Shamanic paths can empower us as individuals and ultimately when we become balanced, a huge shift in the collective consciousness will occur.  It has already started; we are in the death throes of that which no longer serves us.  He encourages us to manifest heaven on earth, starting with ourselves.  Baba Dez spoke repeatedly about working towards Sacred Union of the Divine Masculine and Feminine within us so that we can help to make a difference on the planet.  By the sacred union of the Divine Masculine and Feminine aspects of ourselves we raise our vibrational field and our emotional energy.

The current state of the planet reflects the Father Wound that we all, male and female, need to heal in order that we can make space and encourage our Wounded Feminine to safely express unhealed and denied emotions locked within our emotional body.   Self empowerment is his constant message and he shared with us Shamanic tools that we can use to access our denied, suppressed or unconscious wounding in order that we give a voice to our wounded female.  His consistent message was to live in truth and integrity, to develop our own Healthy Male who can be our own perfect father, brother and lover.  I have become very aware of the Unhealthy Male that lives within me and I have now become a witness to myself talk and consciously correct my internal dialogue to one that is supportive and nurturing.  Dez also said it is important to breathe and feel into emotions considered to be negative.  We are to embrace and acknowledge feelings of rage, grief, fear, shame etc. so that we move the energy through our neurological body and we process these emotions as they occur.  These emotions are just as valid as ecstasy, happiness, joy, bliss, compassion.   Suppressed and denied emotions will cause us to draw people or events into our lives with whom we make 'telepathic contracts' and end up essentially using the relationship to try to heal ourselves by becoming more conscious,  or we use our partners as punching bags when they fail to 'fill us up and make us whole'.

Thank you again Cathy, this has been a life changing event for me and I feel very excited about what the future holds for us not only as individuals but also to the changing consciousness of the planet and its inhabitants.   Let us commit to living a life where we are present, authentic and connected to ourselves and our tribe with compassion and love.  Love Bev

In other news, a new couples Tantra meditation CD was due to be released in December but after much thought and deliberation I have decided to convert the CD into a Couples Tantric DVD.  I am currently working on this project with the wonderful Mark Whitehouse from Procopy and having much fun and delight along the way and I am so excited to be producing an amazing product for couples to learn, experience and practice Tantra with me from the privacy of their own home.  The DVD will be ready for release in April 2010.

Lastly, I am continually in awe of the beautiful people that surround me and support me in this work.  Tantra has been a life changing journey for me and you are all diamonds that are treasured....thank you for being you.

Couple's Tantric Massage Playshop

27th February 2010.  This workshop has been designed by Cathy to give couples the opportunity to explore the ancient tantric practice of TOUCH to connect pleasure, through play letting go of sexual inhibitions and surrendering into FREEDOM.  Tantric Massage is an erotic, sensual experience creating pleasure for pleasure's sake and learning to be totally immersed in deep states of relaxation whilst building sexual energy (peaks or waves) through the body. Hello and Welcome,

Well December is here and the end of another year fast approaching with Christmas just around the corner.  I would like take this opportunity to thank all of my clients who have attended a private session, workshop, retreat, as well as special guest speakers and helpers at the retreats throughout the year and my fabulous meditation class for helping make 2009 such a fantastic year.   I would like to personally acknowledge and thank Claire from Zeta Tech who is continually at the other end of the phone helping me with my website (which is often as I am not very computer literate!  So many thanks Claire). 

The Sanctuary has had another very successful year with lots of new ideas, concepts and products emerging and it continues to grow, spreading the word that sacred sexuality is a celebration of life!  To all the special people who have come into my life and also to those who have left, I thank you all for being part of my journey.   I hope that Tantra has touched your life in some way and that by continuing to practice this powerful ancient art it will bring so many wonderful benefits into your life.  On a personal level, Tantra continues to challenge me in more ways than one and I am continually in awe of the life changing experiences that practicing Tantra brings.

Most people live their life through their 'head' 'their thoughts'.  The true essence of Tantra is to move from the head space into the heart centre, to be present, to be in the NOW, to spread love and joy all around. This is the only way to live life simplistically.  The most commonly asked question I am frequently asked is 'what exactly is the practice of Tantra'.  Well one way to describe Tantra is to imagine you have a beautiful healthy pot plant; the plant depends on you to water it, to feed it so it can survive and continue to thrive.  Tantric lovemaking is a similar concept.  In that moment when you make love, you are 'feeding' your partner unconditional love from the heart centre.  For most people sex is just a physical pleasure, a need, desire or gratification. If people learn to transcend the physical into the connection of love, then we would truly live in a world of magic.   Love in its purest essence is pleasure, happiness, energy and healing.  The billions of cells that float around our body every day are continually pulsating to the energies of positivity or negativity, in other words LOVE or FEAR. Your body and every one of your cells thrives with abundant life force through the aspect of positivity and love.   Imagine connecting to this type of energy and the benefits you will receive and also for that of your partner.  Sex is not just a genital pleasurable connection and or sexual gratification.  It is LOVEMAKING, it is CONNECTION, it is FEEDING, it is PLEASURABLE, and it is EUPHORIA in its highest form connecting the physical, emotional and spiritual. 

In other news, the December Couples Retreat was recently held on the 5^th and 6^th December and once again this retreat proved to be another amazing weekend.  All the couples that attended were fabulous people who were such a joy to teach.  I would like to thank all the participants who attended and especially Linda for all her hard work in helping me set up this retreat, Master Alex Lim for his powerful and thought provoking Seminar on Tantra, Michelle from Harmony Gongs for her beautiful, relaxing and healing gonging meditation and lastly, Sue Bartoll for her yummy culinary delights!  I'm sure everyone who participated enjoyed the food! I am really looking forward to the new retreats planned next year at The Serpentine Retreat Centre.

The new website www.beginnerstantra.com.au  is now up and running and is the sister website for the Sanctuary of Tantra featuring the new e-book 'Beginners Tantra'.

Lastly, the Sanctuary will be closed from the 20^th December until the 11^th January as I will be taking some much needed time off to spend with my boys, returning in 2010 energized and relaxed and ready for an exciting new year.

KHAJURAHO

Recently my gorgeous sister Judy went to India for work and during her trip was able to find time to visit the famous Temples of Khajuraho.  The origins and history of Hindu Tantra resides in these amazing temples.  

One thousand years ago, 85 extraordinary temples were constructed near Khajuraho under the patronage of the Chandella Kinds who ruled over the area from the 9^th to the 14^th century.  The remains of only 25 of these temples survive, extending over an area of 21 sq. km. around the village and constitute one of the most alluring temple sites in India.  The erotic sculptures, the subject of numerous interpretations, are the best known.  Built in a burst of creative energy, the temples, a joyous celebration of life, are among the artistic wonders of the world. 

Some of the erotic panels in the Kandariya Mahadeva Temple suggest they are an interpretation of the Kama Sutra or a Tantric rite which gave sexual intercourse a ceremonial significance.

Physical Properties: Butter Jade has a creamy yellow colour with dark striations throughout and is sometimes also known as Butterstone. Although it is called 'jade', it is not however a true jade. The striations found in the attractive yellow-green sedimentary rock are actually layers containing fossilized algae. The stone is typically around 50 million years old and between 6 and 7 on moh's hardness scale.

Spiritual Properties: This particular variation is called Nephrite, a cream or tan coloured Jade. It is a Talisman for protection. Also helps balance female & male energies within the self which provides further balance with a partner in a relationship as well. Physically, Nephrite Jade is used in the crystal healing of the physical heart, and kidney problems.

Other names for Butter Jade are Butterstone and African Jade.
It is supposed to bring good luck and is also good for helping accept one's life path as well as being excellent for self-realization and acceptance. It promotes clear thinking and aids in decision making.

In Tantric practice the yoni is referred to as the 'symbol of life' therefore practice with the eggs increases sexual sensitivity leading to heightened states of experiencing electrifying multiple orgasms.  As the yoni in Tantra symbolizes the negative sexual pole of a woman and her breasts her positive sexual pole, balancing the two poles through practice with the eggs opens the power of the Shakti (Goddess Energy).

A Reason, Season, A Lifetime

When someone is in your life for a reason, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.  They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.  They may seem like a godsend and they are!  They are there for the reason you need them to be.  Then, without any wrong doing on your part, or at an inconvenient time, this person will say do something to bring the relationship to an end.  Sometimes they die, sometimes they walk away, sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.  What we must realise is that our need has been met, our desire fulfiled, their work is done.  The pray you sent up has been answered and now it's time to move on.

Then people come into our life for a season.  Because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.  They bring you an experience of peace, or make you laugh.  They may teach you something you have done.  They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.  Believe it! It is real! But only for a Season.

Lifetime relationships teach you lifetime lessons; things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.  Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.

Reconnective Healing and The Reconnection

Hello and welcome to the Sanctuary of Tantra

October has been a very busy month (not to mention I turned another year younger!) with lots of planning and organising new events for 2010.  All workshops next year will now be held on Saturday's with the occasional Sunday workshop.  There will be six very unique and different retreats as well as new workshops.

I am excited and honoured to announce that the Sanctuary has invited some amazing and dynamic Special Guests for 2010.  Amy Makim from Milk and Honey Tantra in Brisbane will be joining us for the Tantra Goddess Retreat in April, Jade from Jade Lotus International Tantra will be conducting a massage workshop on the Jade Lotus Method of Tantric Massage and we are currently in the process of organizing Joan and Tomas Heartland from The Divine Feminine Awakened Masculine Institute based in Maui who will be coming here in early 2010 to conduct a workshop on 'Romancing the Beloved' .  A very exciting year ahead!

Due to many requests lately to teach Reiki again, I have decided to offer authentic and traditional Reiki classes and treatments for 2010.  I studied Reiki intensively in 2000 and completed a Reiki Master Degree with the International House of Reiki in Sydney in 2003 www.reiki.net.au.   After teaching Reiki for many years and working as a voluntary Reiki Practitioner with 'Balya Cancer Self Help and Wellness Centre', I came to the realisation that 'Reiki' is all around us, it is the consciousness that we live and breathe.  Reiki continues to bring so much happiness and blessings into my life and I am excited to be sharing this gift with you.

The word Reiki is Japanese and simply means 'spiritual energy'.  It is a spiritual healing practice founded in the late 1800's by Mikao Usui.  Reiki is not a religion but a holistic approach to healing body, mind and spirit.

"The drum has been used for healing purposes throughout the world for thousands of years, in tribal societies with their shamanic traditions to communicate with the spirit world, as well as a tool for social integration and to restore harmony. According to West-African wisdom teachings, emotional disturbance manifests as an irregular rhythm that blocks the vital physical energy flow. As regular even rhythms are regarded as a sign of health, these rhythms can heal the person by touching him or her in an immediate and powerful way, removing blockages and releasing tension. Thus dance and drumming serve as preventive remedies, and they help people to become more aware and balanced.

Excerpts from the new Novel

'The Erotic Adventures of Mr Shiva and Ms Shakti'

Mr Shiva and Ms Shakti had both been low recently and needed a boost to their energies.

So Mr S decided to treat Ms S to an all night/all day energy exchange extravaganza. Mr S was due to fly overseas on business, taking advantage of this he left home a day early and checked into a beautiful retreat.  Mrs S received a message to meet him that night.

The retreat was a simple cabin surrounded by woodland. Mr S prepared the room with candles and incense. He arranged some flowers and spread petals on the bed.  A bottle of red wine and a box of chocolates completed the scene.  Mr S changed into a light robe and awaited Ms S.

Soon there was a crackle and crunching of gravel as a car pulled up.  Ms S stepped out of her car and tapped on the cabin door.  Mr S waited, she tapped again and this time Mr S opened the door and greeted her with a warm hug.  He was instantly repaid with a beautiful smile and a hug back.

He took Ms S by the hand and led her into the room.  He leads her to the sitting area and pours two glasses of wine. They make a silent but powerful toast to each other.  Mr S passes a silk robe to Ms S and guides her to the bathroom. Ms S goes to the bathroom to freshen up and shortly appears in the silk robe, which highlights her figure and flows around her.  She already looks more radiant than when she arrived.

Mr S is seated on a cushion on the floor glass of wine in hand and another cushion beside him. Ms S joins him and kneels on the other cushion. Taking their glasses of wine they pass their arms around the other and drink for the other's glass.  Mr S indicates to Ms S to lie down, she does so placing her head in his lap. He gently strokes her hair and brow. He massages her face and focuses the massage on her forehead, applying pressure between her eyes, just above the bridge of her delicate nose.  They start to breathe loudly and get into a rhythmic breathing together.  Mr S' hands are warm and soft as he caresses away the tension in her brow. Slowly he starts to massage her neck. His hands work firmly but gently along the lines of tension, releasing all that is there.

He moves down her neck and parts the robe slightly to expose more of her shoulders and chest. He massages across her tired tense shoulders. His hands glide teasingly across her chest and back up her neck and to her forehead. Gently brushing her hair he leans down and blows across her face and neck. Ms S shivers and moans with pleasure.

'Inspiring Connection and a Return to Oneness'

Hello and welcome to the Sanctuary of Tantra.

The Tantra Goddess Retreat was held on the 3^rd and 4^th October at the Serpentine Retreat Centre for Attitudinal Healing.  The centre is incredibly beautiful with lots of new flowers blooming at this time of year amongst the wonder and beauty of nature and many inquisitive Kangaroos'.  There is also a gorgeous outdoor Chapel, the perfect place to reflect and just be.

A wonderful group of women joined together to bond, create friendships, laugh and of course to learn the ancient secrets of the Goddess.  According to researchers, women who spend time together in the Shakti energy release a hormone called oxytocin also known as the "love hormone" - and this is important for reducing stress promoting a calming effect.  The Goddess Retreat was designed to not only be a supportive bond between women, but also a prescription for better health to embrace our sacred femininity with integrity and power.

The Shakti energy also known as the "Goddess" is based on YIN.  The Masculine energy is based on YANG and the Goddess embodies a balance of both Yin and Yang.  Yin is all about "Be ing" whilst Yang is all about "do ing".  Women who practice Tantra are aware of their creative sexual Yin energy as "being", thereby putting it into action by tapping into their masculine YANG - the "doing".

I truly enjoyed the wonderful, warm, and exciting environment which Cathy provided at the Goddess Retreat. This event turned out to be a luminescent gathering of beautiful women led by Cathy on a tantric journey of delights.   We shared, we laughed, we bonded, and we created magnificent Shakti energy together...so that when we departed, we had discovered a bit of the goddess in each of us.

"The Foot Orgy"

The Tantra Goddess Retreat was an amazing experience of women gathering together to teach and learn from each other.  There was a feeling of "sisterhood", almost to the sense of going back into time like history where this is the norm.  Where women get together from infant to puberty to adulthood and to be there for each other no matter what.  We have lost that in the modern world and I think society has become too egoistic and materialistic to have room to open our hearts and to love and give unconditionally without judgement and ego.     The weekend was filled with many new and wonderful spiritual and self love experiences, exchanging knowledge and being open to receive from each other.   I particularly  loved the foot orgy, almost like a closed connection and feeling the energy flowing thru the circle.  Pure Shakti energy flowing free.   I left the retreat totally recharged, rested and a feeling of stillness.  Ready to take on any challenges I may face.  Alice WA

Hello everyone,

The past few months have been extremely busy not to mention very challenging personally and I would like to thank everyone in my life for their kindness, support and understanding.  Through my work with tantra I have been extremely blessed to have met some amazing and wonderful people from all walks of life.  It is true that many people have confided in me lately of how many challenges and lessons they are facing on a material level and spiritual level.  One of the realisations I have come to understand for myself this month is "you can't please everyone".  As long as you please the one that matter's the most YOURSELF and as a great Master once told me...."as your light becomes brighter....so too you will attract the moths".  We are all faced at some stage of our lives with challenges and the most important thing to remember is to recognise it, be kind to yourself and surround yourself with like minded, uplifting, positive and loving people and remember above all else remember to practice TANTRA!!!. It is the OLDEST healing modality in the world and yes it works but like anything practice and discipline is the key for results.

Well September is here and the last few remaining months of 2009 is packed full of wonderful retreats and workshops at the Sanctuary of Tantra. There is also a brand new project underway with a very close and dear friend of mind and hopefully in the next Newsletter we can announce our very exciting Australia wide news. The new "shop online" is nearly finished with some new products including Lapis Lazuli and Jade Jewellery as well as Yoga Mat Carry Bags (see photo below).

Couples Retreat

The Couples Retreat was held on the 15^th and 16^th of August and although the weather was wet and cold it didn't deter from the fabulous experience of the weekend.  Couples from all walks of life and diversities joined in a weekend of learning, healing and connecting.  I felt very blessed to have met and taught such amazing people that came together to reach new heights of awareness not only in their relationship as a couple but also within themselves through the journey of sacred sexuality.  Many thanks to all that made this weekend so incredibly special.  A special thank you to Leslie, Julie, Mark, Sue Bartoll for her amazing cooking skills, Tanya-Danielle Gillis for her dynamic and thought provoking seminar on "Stepping into Sacred Love" and Chandrika Gibson for sharing her wisdom and knowledge of the benefits of Yoga.  I would also like to thank Tim, Mark for their lively guitar entertainment around the beautiful open camp fire.

I suppose it was a natural 'progression for me' having first of all participated in the beginners womens half day workshop, the singles weekend retreat, and attending the meditation classes held every second Wednesday for the past year. In this time I have got to know Cathy personally. Cathy is a wonderful person and a wonderful 'teacher' I am always left feeling so 'inspired' by her way of teaching. So knowledgeable and compassionate, and a way of imparting the information on a level that anyone can understand. My personal quest I suppose was to graduate from just 'having sex' to making love through the heart centre as a tantric practice.I feel that this is possible now, and it is simply up to me to put into practice what Cathy has taught me. Alex Lim was born in Central Java, Indonesia in 1955 of Indonesian Chinese parents. Starting Gymnastics at the age of 9, by 11 he was already into formal classes of Kung-Fu, which introduced him to small parts of Qigong of which he is now a Master. By 14, he was made an assistant instructor and over the years to follow, he became familiar and experimented with numerous other martial arts, including western boxing.

Early exposure to mysticism and spirituality was rekindled in his early thirties, when he rediscovered Yoga (which he continues to practise to this very day alongside Qigong & meditation). His wide interest in health, healing, and spirituality resulted in him formally studying Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine. Other studies include 'Spiritual Protection' under the guidance of "Grandpa" Abdullah, 'Self Knowledge' with Swami Suddhananda, and 'I Liq Chuan' (a variation of Tai Chi) with Grand Master Sam Chin.

TANTRA AND THE PROBLEM OF SEX - An interesting Tantra article written by a client from the Sanctuary

It was J M Coetzee who first derived the term? the problem of sex? in his
modern day classic ?Disgrace?.  To view sex in the context of a problem is
a unique and honest perspective of how many people experience their sexuality.
This common experience is very different to how sex is portrayed in the media
where it is often simplified into a long procession of exciting passion-filled
tryst with boundless possibilities and endless variety. If we are to believe
what we read, if you are not doing at least three times a week then you are
positively missing out.

The problem of sex is as varied as the people who exhibit them but there
are certainly common themes which broadly apply to various age groups and
life stages. One theme, on which this article will focus, is the expression
of sexuality for those who are older (mid-life) and who have been partnered
for a long time.

People in later life have invariably ?been through the menu? as far as life?s
experiences go, including the highs and low of relationships, careers, travel
and of course sex. There is a tendency at this life stage to become stuck
or fixated on a particular approach to life that can be both a blessing and
a curse: a blessing because it allows people to repeat a successful formula
and a curse because it hinders change.

One approach to life that many people have become adept at is problem solving
and strategising. In essence, people see themselves as being ?here? but need
to be ?there? so their lives become focused on navigating and facilitating
a smooth passage - or so we hope. The great temptation is to treat the problem
of sex in the same way. But the problem of sex is not so amenable to our
grand schemes and manipulations. Somehow, the terms ?strategy? and ?sex?
don?t go that well together in long term relationships.  Strategy might work
for a male to entice his new lover into bed, but in older well established
relationships, people need to be vulnerable, go deeper and engage with an
open heart and learn to make deep compromises. This is not something we often
associate with strategy and clinical problem solving.  

Another observation is that the barriers to communication are raised in proportion
to the age of the relationship. We often wonder why it is so much more difficult
to talk about sex as compared to for example, one?s career aspirations. This
is a curious position to find oneself in, because in reality, sexual fulfilment
is a need just like any other need. Compare these two conversations with
your spouse: ?I?ll leave work early and pick up the kids while you do the
shopping? with, ?I?ll arrange for the fur lined hand cuffs while you????.
 It would be fair to say that only a very small minority of long term relationships
would experience the second type discourse at all. So just being able to
talk about our sexual needs is an important hurdle in dealing with the problem
of sex.

The previous ideas about problem solving and communication show that in essence,
the problem of sex is not a genital problem, but rather a brain problem.
Intimately tied to the brain is the experience of our inner world and how
we deal with the sexual emotions and urges within us. 

Our sexuality can often seem all smoke and mirrors where largely irrational
thoughts rage and subside in accordance with a sexual desire emanating from
a deeper source within.  As such, our sexuality can involve strong feelings
of emotional ambiguity and mental conflict as our minds try to make sense
of this ?thing? within us.  This conflict can for example be exhibited in
our relationship with our life-long partner whom we may cherish deeply, and
towards whom we may feel a deep sense of emotional connection. Yet, at the
same time, we may also feel drawn by longing for freedom of sexual expression
in an environment where emotional connection is not important. In this setting,
we experience a sense of danger and excitement that pervades the sexual experience
and fuels the flames of desire.  Yet our mind will not allow this, and after
having such an experience (even only in fantasy), the accusing finger of
the mind is pointed towards us and says ?shame on you!?

Our environment has also much to do with our experience of the problem of
sex in later life. In simple terms, after creating a nest and filling it
with a surfeit of hard and soft furnishings (and needless to say a few children)
we tend to loose our way. This is especially the case in the bedroom where
our experience of sensual pleasure becomes unfulfilling and sporadic with
a long time between drinks.  Excitement, fulfilment and sexual interest are
lost in the unending ?to-do? list that our lives become. Why do the terms
that that we use to gauge the success of our lives like ?management?, ?control?,
?efficiency? and ?effectiveness? seem so anti-erotic?

There is a certain depressing inevitability about this progression into such
a later life malaise and our attempts at rebellion are often feeble and misguided.
Are not our aspirations for executive bonuses or luxury cars and houses part
of this rebellion? Might we be saying- if I can?t have this [a fulfilling
sex life], then I might as well have that [the envy of my peers]. At least
they might think I?m getting it because we all know what an aphrodisiac money
is supposed to be!?

Over time our views of sex and attitudes towards various activities and practices
change driven largely by a need for novelty and variation. Our sexuality
is evolving and creating a situation where our long-term partner is able
to remain fully in tune with our sexual needs is a challenge.  We are certainly
not the same people who made the decision to enter into a long-term partnership
many years ago when perhaps our sexual needs were more basic and urgent and
when our sexual experiences seemed new and exciting. 

For middle aged people, not only has their sexual landscape changed but it
can remain ill- defined. Sometimes all we know is that we have deeper urges
and longings but we are unsure of how they might possibly be sated. Somehow
the answer to this question is so much more complex than regressing to a
pornographic phase where every orifice is fair game.

You might also think that this is all solved through good loving communication
but life is never this simple as demonstrated earlier. While opening up is
important, it may not necessarily lead to a suitably willing partner ? he
or she might never want to swing from the chandeliers.

So while all of these difficulties and obstacles described previously might
seem overwhelming, there is an alternative to defeatism: we can resolve to
change our attitudes and outlook on life.

To do this, I suggest that you turn to the ideas of people who have explored
this theme before. One of the most important people in this regard is Marquis
De Sade who considered the pursuit of human pleasure the object of human
life. He also thought that people had the capacity to extend their possibilities
for pleasure by wilful and intellectual effort.

By observation it appears that our broader society has taken on the ideas
of De Sade with gay abandon judging by the amount of sexually related material
that is published especially in popular magazines and on the internet. The
sad reality however is quite different ? most have chosen lifestyles that
are positively against developing a pursuit of human pleasure which is a
great paradox. We choose other things and by default, choose not to have
sex.

So let?s be clear, problems in the bedroom are not easily overcome. It takes
a great deal of effort, vulnerability, sacrifice and honesty. We have to
understand how important sex is to us and what are prepared to loose to gain
a deeper sense of fulfilment. How much wilful and intellectual effort are
we prepared to expend to achieve sexual fulfilment? How honest will we allow
ourselves to be about our sexual needs and are we prepared to gently communicate
them to our partner?

Once we have decided to come to terms with the problem of sex in our own
lives and have resolved to overcome the communication obstacle, then there
is scope to explore techniques for deepening our capacity to experience and
share sensual pleasure.

One such tool is the practise of Tantra since it encourages communication,
asks you to share quality time with your partner and above all, promotes
a deep sense of eroticism in the relationship. This is important because,
like De Sade?s ideas, it places the expression of sexuality at the centre
of our lives - where it belongs.  

Tantra silences the mind ? since in Tantra there are no problems to be solved.
Tantra teaches us to exist in the moment and become highly aware of, and
sensitive to, our own and our partner?s level of arousal. With Tantra, the
body does the talking and we move onto a new space of erotic possibility.
So instead of living in a world where we feel burdened and cornered by the
problem of sex, the practise of Tantra can push the walls away and reveal
an expanded world of sensual possibility.

Hello and Welcome,

As I sit down to write this newsletter, it occurred to me how quickly the year is passing by and how many new and wonderful doors are opening for the Sanctuary of Tantra.  It is my vision and passion to extend Tantra out into the community to create awareness and knowledge into sacred sexuality.  Sexual energy is incredibly powerful if used correctly.  It is not just for pleasure but also for healing and ENERGY.  Energy! Without it we don't survive, especially in this fast pace world where there never seems any spare time to have quiet time with our partner (or ourselves).  Tantra teaches us that we must first look "within".  A fantastic sex life starts "within"....within is where our thoughts are, our energy, our capacity to feel  love, the list goes on.  TANTRA IS A REUNION WITH THE DIVINE the God-Goddess essence of who we really are.  Tantra is Embracing the RICHNESS of life!

The Singles Tantra Retreat held on the 6^th and 7^th June was a huge success.  Tantra workshops, Chakra workshops, Hatha Yoga and of course the amazing food were just some of the highlights of the weekend.  We never stopped eating!....Sue you are an amazing cook!  Thank you to a wonderful group of people that helped make teaching Tantra an absolute joy.  Many thanks to all the participants for making this such a special weekend with lots of fond memories and a special thank you to Lesley and Julie, Sue Bartoll and Cooks, Lara Farrow, Chaz, Kris and Claire Beldon.

The Feast of the Chakras

The Feast of the Chakras was held on Saturday the 9th May and turned out to be a spectacular night of colour, fun, food, amazing people and the Mysteries of the White Lions of Timbavati.  The different coloured Chakra food was absolutley spectacular and was a hugh hit.  I would like to take this opportunity to personally acknowledge and thank the following people for their commitment, support and ideas for such fantastic coloured foods!  RED - Alice and Louise, ORANGE - Lesley, YELLOW - Kim, GREEN - John, LIGHT BLUE - my wonderful boys Rafe and Kale, INDIGO - Nirada and WHITE - Mary.
